Day 10 - Eilat 24/09/2011
The day started bright and early with a cruise in the red sea ('Reed Sea'), where we could see Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan as well as Eilat's beautiful shoreline and hotels. Next, a tour of the Underwater Observatory and the sharks tank, where the management spoiled us with plenty of food and drinks. Later the bloggers had a blast diving with dolphins at the Dolphin Reef. Although lunch was pizza and coke, dinner more than made up for it in El Gaucho restaurant. The day finished off in The Bears Pub, where the owners made sure the bloggers (and organizers) drank themselves silly! 1 Comment Day 9 - Jerusalem, Eilat 24/09/2011
Our ninth day started in an emotional tour of Yad Va'Shem, a memorial for the holocaust. Then we continued to the Jerusalem Forest, where the bloggers planted a tree. Later they took the long drive to Sde Dov airport where we took the flight to Israel's best resort city - Eilat. Dinner was served at Ginger restaurant. Marcello, Chris, Eunice and Joyce were then thrown into the air at the Fireball ride at the Tayelet. Beer and dancing at the Three Monkeys pub sealed the ninth day. Day 8 - Jerusalem 22/09/2011
The day started early with a visit to the Jerusalem Municipality where we saw a mini model of Jerusalem. Sandwiches were today's source of food - from Aroma. The day continued in a tour in a few churches and a short visit to Mamila. We also had a strategic tour to East Jerusalem. A special dinner was held in the Dan Panorama Hotel with the hotel staff. To finish off a great day, a tour of the Western Wall Tunnels. It was a sunny Saturday in Kibutz Tsuba where we spent the night and the morning of Shabbas. We had a tour of the Kibbutz and vivid explanations from one of the members of the Kibbutz. Later on we continued to the great Massada and the breathtaking Dead Sea for a few hours. The day finished off by going to Jerusalem and experiencing the light and sound spectacle. Day 6 - Tel Aviv, Kibbutz 18/09/2011
Friday started in high spirits as the bloggers visited Rogozin School, from the Oscar winning movie 'Strangers No More' and continued on a high note as they arrived to Better Place and drove an electric car. Later they went to eat Shakshuka at Dr. Shakshuka in Jaffa, and toured the city for a while. They continued to Kibbutz Tsuba to spend the Shabbas. Day 5 - Tel Aviv 17/09/2011
On the drive to Tel Aviv early Thursday morning our bloggers got free AHAVA products and arrived to Ramat Hahayal in Tel Aviv in high spirits. In Ramat Hahayal they were introduced to a few hi-tech companies such as iTweetLive, UppSite etc. After that they were taken to the The Gifts Project offices. The bloggers then settles in the Crown Plaza hotel and had fancy lunch after which we took some long awaited R&R. The day finished off with meeting Ivri Lider, a famous Israeli singer at Doris Katzavim, where we had dinner, and went partying at the Tel Aviv port ("Hanamal"). Day 4 started with the long drive to the Golan Heights, a drive proven worthy after our bloggers looked at the stunning view from mount Bental to the Syrian border. The day continued in the Golan Brewhouse where the bloggers studied about how to make beer, about Israeli beer and ate lunch. The Galita Chocolate Factory proved to be an amazing experience as each of the bloggers made their own chocolate bites. A dip in the Jordan river and dinner at the Ein Gev Restaurant finished the day. Our bloggers started day 3 in Wolfson Hospital in Holon - home to the Save a Child's Heart foundation which provides heart surgeries for children from around the world. Emotions ran high as the visit went on, and our bloggers played with the children and heard about the foundation. The day continued and they came back to Haifa, to see the gorgeous Baha'i Gardens. From there they continued to two Druze villages - Dalyat El Carmel and Usafia, where they met with the village elders, wore traditional Druze clothes, and had a traditional Druze dinner. To finish off a great day - a party at the BARki pub in Haifa with the Once In A Lifetime 2.0 crew and guests from around the world who came to Israel to study. Day 2 - Haifa 13/09/2011
With all 5 bloggers on board, the first official day in Israel has begun with a fascinating lecture with Nobel Prize winner Aharon Ciechanover, from the Technion. The day continued with a tour of the Technion and its facilities and lunch at the fancy Namal 24 restaurant. Later the bloggers visited Haifa University, where they saw the Israeli Academy Award winning movie 'Strangers No More'. Dinner was served at the CoHaV community in Haifa, and to finish off the day, a visit to Hamartef pub with a visit and a meeting with the famous Israeli singer Mosh Ben Ari (you can watch his videos right here) and of course - lots of beer! Although it is day one, only 3 of the 5 bloggers have arrived to Israel by the time the dinner in Fattush restaurant started. Eunice's flight arrived at 11pm, Feng arrived on early Friday morning, Chris and Big K arrived this morning. Marcello's flight from Nairobi, Kenya, where he was staying was cancelled but he managed to get an alternative flight, and he, too, arrived to Israel today, and just in time to get one last bite! Chris and Big K had a taste of their very first Falafel, and visited the German Colony. We all gathered for dinner at the Fattush restaurant in the German Colony and at about 11pm the bloggers made their way back to Port Inn, where they'll be staying tonight.
